Are you interested in putting your love of teaching to work at AFGE? Do you want to play a key role in helping AFGE members get their college degrees? Then, we want you to join AFGE's Teacher Corps.
Members of AFGE Teacher Corps are certified to train AFGE members in core union leadership classes that have been approved for college credit through AFGE's partnership with the National Labor College. Three courses have been approved so far: Financial Officers Training, Local Officers Training, and AFGE's Organizing Institute. Courses that are expected to be approved soon include Membership Mobilization, Collective Bargaining, and Basic Arbitration: The Art of Investigation.
Here's what's involved in certification: (1) Successful completion of a "train the trainer" class where you will learn the NLC approved curriculum; and (2) Completion of a class in Adult Teaching Techniques. Much of the "train the trainer" programs will be conducted over the web. Teaching experience and other prior education experience may be substituted for the "Adult Teaching Techniques" class.
