The education goals of the AFGE Field Services and Education Department is to provide education resources for every AFGE member to fulfill his or her greatest potential as a union leader and as a steward of good government.
| Training & Curriculum Development |
The Field Services and Education Department, in conjunction with other AFGE departments, has developed a core set of union leadership courses that are available for college credit. Current offerings include: Financial Officers Training, the AFGE Organizing Institute, and the new Leaders Training Program.

The Department works with AFGE staff and elected officers to customize curriculum for district, council, and local training programs. The Departments also offers instructors' guides and train-the-trainer programs for AFGE core curriculum.

| Facilitation & Organization Development |
The Department works with district, local, and council governing bodies to improve organizational functioning through strategic planning, meeting facilitation, and team building programs.

College Planning & Financial Assistance |
The Department, through its partnership with the National Labor College (NLC), works with interested AFGE members to map out education plans to complete an undergraduate and graduate degree at the NLC. If you've been a union activist or officer for at least two years, you already have real-life experience that might translate into multiple college credits. |
